CaptionBoss

Terms of Service

Effective August 9, 2026 · Billing section updated October 19, 2026

These terms are an agreement between you and SC Studios ("we", "us"), the operator of CaptionBoss. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to them.

The service

CaptionBoss turns your videos into ready-to-post content: transcription, platform captions and translations, thumbnails, short clips, blog drafts, and a posting tracker. Features may evolve — we'll aim to make them better, not worse.

Your account

Your content

You own the videos, photos, and text you upload and the content you generate. You grant us a limited license to store and process it solely to provide the service to you — including processing by our third-party service providers under contract. That license ends when you delete the content.

Only upload content you have the rights to use, and only add face photos of people who have given you permission.

Acceptable use

AI-generated content

Captions, thumbnails, clips, and drafts are generated automatically and can contain mistakes. Review before you publish — you're responsible for what you post from your accounts.

Plans, credits, and limits

Plans include usage allowances (like monthly pro-thumbnail credits and daily processing limits). We may adjust plans and pricing with reasonable advance notice; changes won't apply retroactively to a period you've already paid for.

Billing, renewals, and cancellation

Free trial. New workspaces start with a 14-day free trial of the plan you choose. A payment method is collected up front so the plan can continue without interruption; nothing is charged during the trial, and if you cancel before it ends you are never charged. When the trial ends, the plan starts and your card is charged for the first billing period. One free trial per person — later workspaces and resubscriptions begin billing immediately. We send a reminder email three days before a trial ends.

Billing. Plans are billed in advance, monthly or yearly, through our payment processor, Stripe; we never see or store your card number. A Creator subscription covers one workspace; an Agency subscription covers five brand workspaces that share one pool of allowances, and additional brand workspaces can be added to it at the per-brand price shown in the app (currently $25/month or $250/year each), prorated when added and removed. Subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel. You can switch plans or cancel at any time from Settings → Plan & usage → Manage billing. Upgrades take effect immediately and are prorated; downgrades and cancellations take effect at the end of the current billing period, and you keep your plan's limits until then. Monthly allowances (video minutes, posts, pro-thumbnail credits) reset on the 1st of each month and don't roll over. Pro-thumbnail top-up packs are one-time purchases that don't expire while you have an active plan.

Refunds and failed payments. Because the service is delivered as you use it, payments are non-refundable except where the law requires otherwise or we've made a mistake — if something went wrong, email support@captionboss.com and we'll make it right. If a payment fails, we'll email you and keep your plan active for a short grace period while Stripe retries; if it can't be collected, the subscription ends. When a plan ends for any reason your workspace becomes read-only: projects, captions, transcripts and thumbnails stay viewable and copyable, and uploads, new captions, clips and posting pause until a plan is active again. We don't delete your work because a plan ended.

Termination

You can stop using CaptionBoss and request deletion of your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, with notice where practical. On termination, your license to use the service ends and your content is deleted per our Privacy Policy.

Disclaimers

The service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. We don't guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim related to the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, and we are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of West Virginia, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.

Changes

If we make material changes, we'll update the date above and note it in the app. Continued use after changes means you accept them.
